Janpath is comfortably located in the heart of the city surrounded by Connaught Placeand Jantar Mantar. So anyone visiting Connaught Place or Jantar Mantarwouldn'twant to miss out visiting Janpath and vice-versa. CP has great shopping complex and big brands but Janpath has authentic and unique Indian products. If you start with the CP side, you’ll find lamp shops, spices shops and marble souvenirs. Sarees and kurtas are available along with the popular Kolhapuri sandals. It is a good place to go treasure hunting. You'll find many watches that looks like your grandpa's old watch or lamps that looks like Aladdin's Lamp from your comic book at affordable prices.
In the middle there’s an area which looks strikingly similar with Sarojini market. Here one can get cheap bags, in-fashion clothes and sandals. Embroidery cushions, bags, tablecloths, bed sheets all made in colorful Indian style are a crowd puller. Towards the North end just behind the Imperial Hotel, there’s a small area allotted for Tibetans. The color of the shops changed drastically. The main products available at the shops are masks and wall hangers. These unique items made good souvenirs. The Imperial Hotel whose main gate opens near the North end of the market is a historical place. It was one of the first luxury hotels in India known for its heritage and legacy. It was here that Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Lord Mountbatten would meet to discuss the partition of India and Pakistan.
