Delhi Attractions

IT India Fair 2008 is the largest platform for IT professionals, exporters, importers and manufacturers to exhibit their products and services. The fair will be held in Delhi and as a part of leisure trip they can also visit the Delhi attractions to taste the rich cultural background. The enshrined monuments are majestic bearers of the architectural excellence of the ancient rulers, who ruled India through Delhi.

Sightseeing In Delhi

Sightseeing in Delhi takes the visitors to the glorious past, where glory and valor of the ancient rulers oozes out of the enshrined monuments. Some of the Delhi attractions are:

  • Hazrat Nizamuddin Tomb: The tomb is one of the Muslim pilgrimages in India and is one among the most charming attractions in Delhi. The tomb is of Saint Sheikh Nizamuddin Aulia and was built in 1325. The visitors have to travel through the medieval lanes and deport them to the days of Sahajahanabad.

  • Lal Qila: This fort is made of red sandstone and was built by Emperor Shah Jahan, the builder and architect of the Mughal Empire. The fort stands over an area of 2 kilometers in Old Delhi and marks the seat of Mughal power in Delhi. The Lahore gate serves as an entry to the fort, which will take the visitors through the Chatta Chowk, then the Naqqar Khana finally introducing the Diwan-i-Am or the Hall of the public and the Diwan-i-Khas or the Hall for the court members. The fort also has a Rang Mahal, Mumtazal, Khas Mahal and the great bath Hammam. The Moti Masjid is a mosque and as special prayer room built by Aurangzeb within the fort, where entry was not allowed to any other person except Aurangzeb.

  • Qutab Minar: The minar was built by Qutab-ud- Din Aibak, who founded the slave dynasty. The minar is five storeyed and is 72.5 meters tall. The minar stands within the Qutab complex, which shows the architectural excellence and advancement of the rulers of the Delhi Sultanate.

  • Humayun’s Tomb: The Humayun’s Tomb was also built by Shah Jahan and was designed by a Persian architect Mirak Mirza Ghiyas. This garden tomb is worth visiting as it is a great combination of red sandstone and white marble.

  • Jama Masjid: The mosque is the largest mosque in Asia and was built by the great architect, Emperor Shah Jahan in 1656. It took 6 years to complete the mosque and nearly 5,000 laborers were employed to complete the mosque.

  • Crafts Museum: Apart from the historical sites, the museums are also worth visiting as they bear valuable artifacts dating back to the pre historic civilization. One such museum is the crafts museum, which showcases the creativity of the Indian people. Visitors can buy anything from designer fabrics to household items.

  • The National Museum: The National museum contains some of the rare collections of Indian civilization dating back to the civilizations of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro. Besides it also has collections of Buddhist manuscripts and miniature paintings. There are separate galleries displaying the relics of the ancient times.
