Delhi Monuments

Delhi monuments are majestic bearers of art and architecture of the former days. The enshrined carvings give a taste of the rich Indian culture along with the lavish life of the Mughal emperors, who made Delhi the center of cultural excellence. Travelers must visit the monuments in Delhi, which also form a part of the Delhi attractions. Monuments in Delhi

The monuments in Delhi are historical sites, which takes the visitors back to the days of Delhi Sultanate and Mughal dynasty. Some of the Delhi monuments are:

  • Red Fort: The Red Fort stands sin Old Delhi and speaks of Emperor Shah Jahan's initiative of constricting the Mughal power within the monument. For this he built a mini city within the fort bounded by high walls. The fort stands on a circumference of 2.2. Kilometers. The fort has a Naqqar Khana or the drum room, the Diwan-e- Am or the Hall of public. There is also the Mumtaz Mahal, Khas Mahal, Diwan-e- Khas, Rang Mahal, Khas Mahal, Hammam or the bathing area and Shah Burj. .

  • India Gate: The India Gate stands in the memory of 90,000 soldiers, who sacrificed their life in the First World War. The names of the soldiers are inscribed on the walls of the gate and an eternal flame burns in the memory of the jawans. It also serves as a gateway to the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

  • Purana Qila: The Purana Qila was built by Emperor Humayun and was named as Dinpanah or the Refuge of the Faithful. The inner fort of the city is known as Purana Qila and has three gates namely the Humayun Darwaza, Bara Datrwaza and the Talaqi Darwaza.

  • Qutab Minar: This Delhi Monument is the highest tower in India made of stone. The stone pillar was built by Qutab-ud- Din Aibak when he ascended the throne of Delhi during the era of Delhi Sultanate. He established the slave dynasty. The Minar is 72.5 meters is divided into five storeys.

  • Iron Pillar: The pillar stands in memory of King Chandragupta Vikramaditya and has Sanskrit inscriptions on it. The pillar also speaks of India's advancement in the field of metallurgy two thousand years ago.

    Delhi monuments still smell the ancient stories seeping out from the corners of the monuments.
