Jammu and Kashmir educational organizations have been set up to spread education in the state. Education in Jammu and Kashmir is encouraged by the state government. A number of educational organizations including schools, colleges and universities in the state are assigned with the noble duty to encourage the students to pursue studies and establish themselves in the near future.
Many of the educational organizations in Jammu and Kashmir are sponsored by the government of the state. Many other institutions are privately owned. Many of the educational organizations in the state provide free educational facilities to the unprivileged children. Jammu & Kashmir State Board of School Education has been set up in 1965 to conduct educational procedures in the schools in the state.
There are about 15000 schools in Jammu and Kashmir. About 1.5 million of pupils are enrolled under these educational institutes in Jammu and Kashmir. The average number of students enrolled under the colleges in Jammu and Kashmir is 0.40 lakhs. In Jammu and Kashmir, there are 32 colleges to pursue graduate level courses. There are a number of general colleges as well as medical, engineering and management colleges in the state.
The students interested to pursue higher education in Jammu and Kashmir, can take admission in the universities of Jammu and Kashmir. There are three universities in the state to pursue post graduate studies. Among the educational organizations in Jammu and Kashmir, the institutes providing professional training are also of great importance. The state of Jammu and Kashmir also has a number of institutes to provide teachers' training to the would be teachers.
