University of Jammu


University of Jammu was established in 1969 after passing of the Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act in 1969. The university of Jammu has been recognized as a Four Star University by the National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India. This university has been established to disseminate higher studies and encourage research programs in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is one of the vital organizations in the Jammu and Kashmir education.

Jammu University is one of the two Jammu and Kashmir Universities. The location of the university is magnificent. It is situated in the foothills of Trikuta mountain. Jammu University is assigned with various duties. This educational institute conducts examinations, takes admission to its various courses and looks after the several colleges affiliated under it. This institution also conducts distance education.

The administration of University of Jammu is headed by Governor of Jammu and Kashmir as the honorary Chancellor of Jammu University. The Chief Minister of the state acts as the Pro-Chancellor of University of Jammu.
