For all those wondering how to reach Jammu and Kashmir, the National Highway 1 provides the best roads to travel to the state. The traffic on the Delhi-Pathankot-Jammu-Srinagar Road is usually heavy with all the heavy vehicles and buses commuting to the state through the road link. Realizing the importance of a good network of road links to travel to the state, the government of Jammu and Kashmir has decided to utilize the Bhaderwah-Chamba and the Bhaderwah-Bani-Basolhi roadways. The optional road link has also reduced the traffic on the National Highway and benefited the poverty stricken areas of the district of Doda that earn revenue and popularity due to the presence of the tourists road link.
Realizing the need of proper Jammu and Kashmir roadways and road transport facilities in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the World Bank has also sanctioned an aid and proposed to undertake a project to build roads in the districts of Kathua, Anantnag, Budgam, Rajouri, Baramula, Jammu, Kargil and Leh.
