Awantipura


Reflecting the devotion of the ninth century AD Emperor Avantivaman, the shrine of Awantipura is positioned amidst the verdant valleys of Jammu & Kashmir. Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu are known to be the two prime deities of the temple of Awantipura.

Awantipura lies in between the track from Srinagar to Pahalgam. It is believed that the temple of Awantipura bears the imprints of rulers who dominated the land of Jammu & Kashmir 1100 years ago. Devoted to Lord Shiva and Vishu, this temple receives huge number of Hindu devotees during major religious festivals.
