Buddha Amarnath

Buddha Amarnath is a world famous pilgrimage spot in the state of Jammu and Kashmir in India. It is situated in the north east of a town called Poonch, which is part of Jammu and Kashmir. The place of Buddha Amarnath is very famous for the ancient temple of Lord Shiva.

The temple of Buddha Amarnath is actually at a distance of twenty-five kilometers of the town of Poonch. The river of Pulsta flows by the Buddha Amarnath Temple in the Poonch Town. The stream is known as loran but the local men associate a legend on the Pulasta Rishi, grandfather of Ravan with the river and thus call it by the name Pulasta.

It is located in a place, which is known as the Rajpura mandi. The Mandi Village is just two kilometers below the Rajpura mandi.

The temple of Buddha Amarnath is an exclusive temple that is located not on the top of the hill but at the foot of the hill. There is a Shiva Linga in the temple that is not self-made and it is made of white stone. The Shiva Linga of white stone looks very magnificent and elegant and evokes devotion and a sense of piety in men.

Buddha Amarnath is believed to be older in age than that of Amarnathji. During the festival of Rakhsa Bandhan, thousands of devotees visit the temple of Buddha Amarnath to offer their prayers to Lord Shiva. It is one of the Jammu and Kashmir popular tourist spots, which one should not miss.
