Khanqah-I-Moula

Commemorating the holy visit of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani – the preacher of Islam faith – Sultan Sikander built the shrine of Khanqah-I-Moula near the bank of Jhelum river in the valley of Jammu & Kashmir. The origin of Khanqah-I-Moula which is also called as Khanqah-e-Moula dates back to the periods of 1389 to 1413 AD.

Mir Syed Ali Hamdani is regarded as one of the holiest figures of Islam. During his entire lifetime, Mir Syed Ali Hamdani, the great preacher spread his holy sermons in the valley of Jammu & Kashmir. The Muslim followers of the valley come in large numbers to the Khanqah-I-Moula to seek the holy blessings of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani.

Khanqah-I-Moula, till date, has went through several ravages of time. For one, the shrine was completely damaged by a sudden blaze of fire in the year 1480. However, Sultan Hassan Shah rebuilt Khanqah-I-Moula in the same year. Then again in 1731 AD Abul Barkat Khan had to re-establish the shrine of Khanqah-I-Moula as it came under the grip of a devastating fire.

Khanqah-I-Moula is visited by huge number of Muslim devotees on the pious occasion of the death anniversary of Mir Syed Ali Hamdani which falls on the last month of Muslim calendar.

Situated in the Srinagar district, Khanqah-I-Moula can be arrived at through NH1A. The place has close proximity with the airport which is located at Jammu.

Khanqah-I-Moula as a major spot of Jammu & Kashmir pilgrim tourism attracts large number of general tourists as well as Islamic devotees.
