Kheer Bhawani Asthapan


Kheer Bhawani Asthapan is a temple located in the district of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir. This temple is built near the spring in the area known as Kheer Bhawani. This location is one of the popular heritage spots in Jammu and Kashmir. The holy temple is visited by the devotees through out the year.

The temple of Kheer Bhawani is closely associated with many myths. The spring flowing through the Tula Mula village in Jammu and Kashmir is worshiped as Goddess Ragnya Devi. This village is located 27 km from Srinagar. The devotees of goddess Ragnya Devi gather to pay homage to her on an auspicious day during May. Kheer Bhawani Asthapan is as popular as the temple situated in Tula Mula village. The devotees believe that the color of the spring water is changed by the goddess herself.

According to a legend, Reshi Molu, a saint heavily penanced for Goddess Durga. She came in his dream to tell him that he can sought her in the water of a small spring flowing through the area. According to another legend, it is said that Goddess Durga said to Wazir Panu in a dream that she resides in the spring. From then onwards, the spring came to be worshiped by devotees. Kheer Bhawani Asthapan temple in Jammu and Kashmir has become a famous tourist spot. The devotees coming to pay homage to the goddess offer her Kheer and milk.
