The Mubarak Mandi Palace complex is one of the Jammu and Kashmir popular tourist places. It is situated in the walled city complex. There are many buildings of architectural excellence in this complex. The oldest structure here was built in the year of 1824.
It is one of the most prominent tourist attractions of the Jammu city. The architectural getup of the structures of this complex is a combination of the Rajasthani, European Baroque and the Mughal style. Such rich influences have made the appearance of the structures elegant and exquisite.
The most attractive part of this complex is the Sheesh Mahal. The appearance of this building is stunning and gorgeous. The palace complex used to serve as the residence of the royal family of the Dogra kings. It has a heritage of 150 years to be proud of. You will get some of the most fascinating views of the city of Jammu on one side and the Tawi River on the other from this palace complex. Thus it can be said that the location was carefully selected by the royal personalities.
The Dogra Art Museum is now located in the Pink Palace of this complex. This museum preserves some of the most beautiful miniature paintings of various styles from this region. There are about eight hundred paintings stored in this museum. Most of the miniatures stored here belong to the Kangra, Jammu and Basohili School of art.
Another important attraction of the museum in the Mubarak Mandi Palace is the gold painted bow and arrow of emperor Shah Jahan.
