Sacred to the Sikhs of the region, the Nangali Sahib is a Gurudwara situated four kilometers away from the town of Poonch in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The place of worship is representative of the communal harmony in the state and is equally visited by the Hindu, Muslim and Sikh devotees.
The shrine is placed on the left bank of the stream called the Drungli Nallah, which flows through the district of Poonch. The pilgrims and the tourists may arrive at the Gurudwara to offer their prayers in jeeps and buses that travel from the city of Poonch to the shrine. The district of Poonch is situated 225 kilometers away from the city of Jammu is also well connected with the winter capital. Regular buses ply from the capital city to the Gurudwara as well.
Nangali Shahib is a popularly visited pilgrimage of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The shrine is said to have been visited by the Sikh sage Bhai Mela Singh who established the Gurudwara there. The shrine fell en route the path, which was traversed by the Sikh saint, Sant Bhai Mela Singh while he marched to conquer the region of Jammu and Kashmir. The Gurudwara was founded after his visit to the place in the year 1810. Since the establishment of the Gurudwara, it has become a popular itinerary of the Jammu and Kashmir pilgrim tourism. Pilgrims arrive in large numbers every year from all over the country to pay homage to the Sikh saint and offer prayers at the Gurudwara.
