Ram Kund

One principal part of Jammu and Kashmir sightseeing consists of Jammu and Kashmir Pilgrim Tourism. Among the many religious places that attract the pilgrims from all over the world, Ram Kund is a popular one. It is considered to be a holy place and it contains a temple.

The pilgrim of Ram Kund is situated at a distance of about sixty-eight kilometers from the town of Poonch in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. From the region called Mendhar, the temple of Ram Kund is to be found at a gap of almost eleven kilometers.

People have mixed views regarding who built the Ram Kund Temple. While some people believe Lord Rama himself constructed that temple of Ram Kund when He was passing through the region of Kashmir and the king Lalitaditya renovated it later, others are of the idea that the temple was originally built by Raja Lalitaditya.

There are three beautiful springs around the RamKund. Watching the clear water of the springs is a great refreshing sight for the tired eyes. It is considered very pious to take a shower in the springs and pilgrims take bath in the first half of the Hindu month of Chaitra.

The place is named Ram Kund probably because of its association with Lord Rama. Lord Rama visited the place and some believe that He even built the temple of Ram Kund. Ram Kund is a religious place as well as a naturally beautiful sight, both at the same time.
