War Memorial

War Memorial is a monument of much historical importance located in the Rajouri district of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir. It is situated in the Gujjar Mandi Chowk of the Rajouri Township.

The War Memorial of Rajouri district was raised to commemorate the fighters and the victims who lost their lives in the freedom struggle of this area. It was on the thirteenth day of the month of April in the year of 1948 that Rajouri earned its freedom from the foreign dominance by the Indian army.

It was during this time that Major Khuswant Singh launched the war against the Pakistani military force. It was a reaction to certain acts of the force due to which the site of the present airfield had been turned to a place of mass destruction.
