Location of Jamshedpur

The geographic location of Jamshedpur is 86º04' to 86º54' east Latitude and 22º12' to 23º01' North Longitude. Jamshedpur is located in the south-eastern part of Jharkhand. Jamshedpur was formed on 16th January, 1990 after isolating nine blocks from the Singhbhum district.

Jamshedpur is located in the Chhota Nagpur plateau and covers an area of 3533 square kilometers. The region is characterized by igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks that belong to the Dharwarian period. The height of the region varies from 700 feet to 3100 feet above sea level.
