Central Mining Research Institute (CMRI) is a laboratory which operates under the guidance of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research run by Government of India. The institute was established in the year 1956 and since then carries out the work of research and development in the area of mining and allied subjects.
The research work carried out by Central Mining Research Institute at Jharkhand would help in making mining a safe, productive, economical and environment friendly process. The research work would also help in reducing degradation, health hazards and environmental pollution created due to mining and other related industrial activities.
The main campus of Central Mining Research Institute of Jharkhand is situated at Barwa Road in Dhanbad. The institute has two more regional campuses, one at Roorkee and the other at Nagpur.
