The National Metallurgical Laboratory was established in the year 1946 in the city of Jamshedpur. The place was inaugurated by C. Rajagopalachari. This laboratory has thrived with constant financial and other kinds of support from the very well known Indian business name Tata Industries Limited. The laboratory is involved in various kinds of work associated with technological and scientific research to facilitate the industrial development of the state, especially in the areas of minerals, metals and another type of elements called the advanced materials.
The Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research is a reputed research institute of mining in Dhanbad. This is one of the leading and important research institutes of Jharkhand which was established in 1956. The main focus of this institute is to research in the field of mining to facilitate the mining work and reduce the expenses of the mining industry.
