Jharkhand Research Institutes



There are a few Jharkhand research institutes, which are involved in a variety of research-oriented work. The total number of major research institutes in Jharkhand is three. These are:

  • The Central Fuel Research Institute
  • The National Metallurgical Laboratory and
  • The Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research. All these three Jharkhand research institutes are engaged in high-quality work, which may benefit not only the state of Jharkhand but the whole country of India.

    The Central Fuel Research Institute, one of the major research institutes in Jharkhand, is the first institute that was awarded the ISO-9001 acknowledgement by the renowned Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. This institute was established in the year 1945 in Dhanbad. The main activities of this institute include research work in the field of the fuel content of India, particularly lignite and coal resources.

    The National Metallurgical Laboratory, one of the important research institutes at Jharkhand, is a part of the well acclaimed Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. The National Metallurgical Laboratory was established in the year 1946 in the city of Jamshedpur. The place was inaugurated by C. Rajagopalachari. This laboratory has thrived with constant financial and other kinds of support from the very well known Indian business name Tata Industries Limited. The laboratory is involved in various kinds of work associated with technological and scientific research to facilitate the industrial development of the state, especially in the areas of minerals, metals and another type of elements called the advanced materials.

    The Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research is a reputed research institute of mining in Dhanbad. This is one of the leading and important research institutes of Jharkhand which was established in 1956. The main focus of this institute is to research in the field of mining to facilitate the mining work and reduce the expenses of the mining industry.
