Vattakottai or the Circular Fort: This an 18th century fort built by Marthanda Varma. It was built with the objective of fortifying Nanjil Nadu region from foreign attack but was finally taken over by British Commander Ledger. The fort is now a popular picnic spot and a holiday resort.
