  • Mundanthurai Tiger sanctuary: This is a reserved forest, which is home o a large number of fauna and avifauna as well as thousands of varieties of plants and herbs. The Tigers, leopards, elephants, jungle cat, common, langur, gaur, sambar, chital, wild dogs, crocodile, mouse deer, tahr are some of the species found here. The region is watered by 14 rivers and is about the only evergreen forest in south India.

  • Vattakottai or the Circular Fort: This an 18th century fort built by Marthanda Varma. It was built with the objective of fortifying Nanjil Nadu region from foreign attack but was finally taken over by British Commander Ledger. The fort is now a popular picnic spot and a holiday resort.

    This apart, tourists also undertake excursion from Kanyakumari to nearby places such as Thirparappu waterfall, Mathoor hanging bridge, Muttam, Pechipparai Dam, Thengapattinam Beach, Padamanabhapuram and the Alvar Tirunagari.
