Telephone Code
The "Telephone Code" is a set of number that has to be dialed before the original number to get connected with one's family and friends of other states and countries. The entire process of transferring the line to other states or countries is being done automatically with the help of computer aide machines.
The "Telephone Codes" differ from city to city and from country to country. If anyone wants to dial within the country then that is known as "STD" or Standard Subscribers Dialing, where one has to use a particular code to get the line connected to the other state or city. Similarly if anyone wants to dial outside the country then that is known as "ISD" or International Subscribers Dialing, where again the individual has to dial a particular code to get the line transferred to that country.
The STD Codes of the various states are usually of three to four digit numbers where each number has a special significance. The numbers indicate the particular region, sub region, and locality within the state to where the subscriber is trying to communicate over telephone.
In case of ISD calls, there is a "Country Code" that indicates the particular country where the subscriber is trying to reach over telephone. Next to the "country code" comes the "IDD" prefix or the International Direct Dialing which indicates that the call is an ISD call. The NDD prefix or the "National Direct Dialing" refers to the particular area or region to where the subscriber wants to call.
The "STD" Code of Karntaka differs from city to city. The state has well equipped telephone exchanges that enables the citizens of the state to be connected over telephone with much ease and convinience.
