Kollur Tourism

The peaceful town in Kollur lies at a distance of 135 kilometers from Mangalore and 80 kilometers from Udupi in the state of Karnataka. The picturesque and religious town is nestled in the valley of Kodachadri peak of Western Ghats.

Kollur of Karnataka is abode of very famous Mookambika Temple on the banks of the river Sauparnika. The peculiarity of this river is that it never dries up.

The marvelous temple of Mookambika in Kollur is adorned with gold plated crest and copper roofs. This temple is the center of attraction for the innumerable devotees coming from all the corners of the globe.

Goddess Mookambika is the principal deity in this shrine. The goddess in Kollur is in the form of Jyotir-Linga depicting both Shiva and Shakthi. The image of the Goddess on Shree Chakra is made up of five different metals. It is said to have been consecrated by Adi Shankaracharya.

In Kollur temple you will find an exquisite icon of Panchamukha Ganesha. Kollur is counted amongst one of the 'Seven Muktislala' in Karnataka. The other sites include:
