Asianet is one of the major television channels that are widely viewed in the city of Kochi in Kerala.
The persons who are greatly responsible for the tremendous success of channel Asianet are Mr. Sasikumar and Mr Raji Menon. It was their idea to make the name of Asianet popular in every Malayalam home.
The Asianet in Kochi is an enterprise of the private company called Asianet Communications Public Limited. This company was originally called the Asianet Communications Private Limited when it was created in 1991. But later on, in the year 2000, it got its current name. The channel came on air in 1993.
In the initial stage of development, the people behind the television channel of Asianet had to undergo the struggles involved to initiate a new kind of concept in the media market. The accessories required for the broadcast of programs via a satellite connection were not specialized and easily available. There were not many people who were interested to invest in a project with such a brand-new concept.
Being the first of its kind in the state of Kerala, the Asianet at Kochi had to start from the scratch to learn all the nitty-gritty involved in the field of satellite television. However, the Asianet has overcome all such barriers successfully. Now, it boasts of being the leader in the Malayalam satellite television market with a massive viewership.
