Indian Institute of Management Kolkata is the premier management school of India. There are many IIMs located in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Indore, Kolkata, Kozhikode and Lucknow. IIM C or Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta is rated amongst the best management institutes of India. The Government of India with the help and co-operation of the Alfred P Sloan School of Management (MIT), the Government of West Bengal, the Ford Foundation, and Indian business community established this institute in 1961.

IIM C has a 135-acre campus with fully equipped classrooms, seminar and conference rooms, a 750-seats auditorium, Center for Management of Human Values, Residential quarters, Library, Computer center, an executive training complex, State Bank of India, SBI ATM, ICCI bank ATM and a post office.

Candidates are short listed for the interview based on their performance in the Common Aptitude Test, also called CAT. The final selection is made using multiple criteria of performance in CAT, group discussion, personal interview, past scholastic achievement and relevant work experience.
