About Kota

There are many prehistoric and historic facts about Kota that collectively make the city one of the most interesting locations of Rajasthan. Currently the city of Kota in Rajasthan is considered as a thriving and prosperous business hub.

As far as the history of Kota is concerned, the chronology of events that led to the formation of Kota speaks of a rather exciting array of happenings. As early as 12th century AD the foundation of Kota had been already established. But it was only in 1631 that Kota became a chief Rajput dominion under the rule of Rao Madho Singh. By forming a Mansab of five thousand, Maharao Bhim Singh too became a prominent personality in the Kota history. It is said that Shahjahan, the great Mughal Emperor conferred the dynastic powers to Madho Rao in the 17th century to make Kota an independent location of Rajasthan state. Since then Kota is consistently developing in all its socio-cultural and economic zones.

Kota location shows its position near the River Chambal. Located in the southern part of Rajasthan, Kota enjoys a strategic location and the agricultural lands of the city are quite fertile in nature which produces high quality crops every year.

Weather of Kota ranges between a minimum of 9.5 degree Celsius and a maximum of 27.5 degree Celsius in the winter season, while during the summer months the maximum temperature is 42.2 degree Celsius and a minimum of 27.5 degree Celsius.

The infrastructure of Kota is quite developed and boasts of an improved array of services. There are a total of 1636.88 km of district roads in Kota and the place is well-connected to all other adjoining cities of Rajasthan. The city of Kota also houses three numbers of telegraph offices and 195 post offices.

It can be said about Kota that over the years this city has become an epicenter of trade and commerce in Rajasthan.
