Manali is well connected by surface transport from Kullu, Shimla and other parts of the state. The foreign tourists usually prefer to reach Manali by air. They land at the Kullu Airport and travel from there by road. Although there is no Manali Railway Station, a travel to Manali by train is possible and can be fun too.
What is popularly considered as the Manali Railway Station is actually the Joginder Nagar Railway Station, which is located at a distance of 95 kms from Kullu-Manali. The Joginder Nagar Railway Station is a narrow gauze rail station and the nearest railway station from Manali. The small but picturesque railway station is named after Maharajah Joginder Singh.
It is the last station for the toy train, which travels from Pathankot. Running on a narrow gauze line, the toy train ride is indeed a joy ride for the travelers. Not only it is fun to board the train but it also serves the purpose of taking them to Joginder Nagar, from where their desired place - Manali is not very far away.
