Manali Population



Although it is a sparsely populated place, the Manali population is a mix of different communities, castes and religions. There are Ladakhis, Kashmiris, Kullus, Pahari speaking local people, Lahaulis, Tibetans and traders from different parts of the country. There are even a few people who came as a tourist but fell in love with the place and stayed back permanently.

The total Manali Population is around 4000, according to the latest census. The population of Manali comprises 64% of males and the rest 36% are female. The Manali administrative authority and the state government have done a good job that resulted in the improvement of literacy rate of Manali. Almost 74% of the total population is literate, which has comfortably surpassed the national average of 59%. Among the male population, 80% are literate while the female literacy rate is 63%. Almost 9% of the total population is children under 6 years of age.

The population of Manali comprises of people from diverse groups and the most interesting part of it is that their society is a harmonious blend of all the different traditions and cultures. The people of Manali are very vibrant and they lead a colorful life, which also is reflected in the festivals and in their lifestyles
