Saharan

Meandering roads wind up to the city of Saharan that lays half way up the hill side. Either side of the roads is dotted with the elegant pine and the oak trees that provide the region with a charismatic sylvan picture. The region is watered by the River Sutlej that gushes down the stream near the small city of Saharan. With its enigmatic and enticing qualities to lure tourists, the region of Saharan is known to be the gateway to the district of Kinnaur.

The region of Saharan is located at an altitude of 2165 meters above sea level and provides a picturesque view of the Shrikhand Peak. The city is located at a short distance of 6 kilometers from the city of Simla and can be easily reached by cars and jeeps that ply on the road regularly. Further down the road lays the city of Manali which is well connected to the city of Saharan. Other than the appreciators of the beauty of nature, trekkers and pilgrims also arrive at Saharan city. For the trekkers, the region is an opportune base camp while for the Hindu pilgrims, the Bhimakali Temple is one of the most sacred and pious religious shrines present in the country. Inspired by the Tibetan architecture, the temple incorporates several forms of the Tibetan architectural style and blends it with the Indian architecture.

With the innate elemental beauty of the surrounding nature and its picturesque location, Saharan is one of the chief places to see around Manali.
