Nahan is the district headquarters of Sirmour. The town is located at an altitude of 932 metres from the sea level and enjoys a pleasant climate all throughout the year. Tourists come here to enjoy the natural beauty and a number of temples and tanks located here.
Jaitak Fort: In the history of Sirmour Jaitak hills occupies an important place. Here the famous battle between the British forces and the Gurkhas were fought. Jamta falls lies about 19 km to the north of Nahan, on the Nahan-Dadahu road. There is a hill fortress on the Jaitak hill, built by Ranjor Singh Thapa, the legendary Gurkha leader.
Haripur Dhar is a mountain range, the rulers of former Sirmour State built a fort on this range of mountain to protect the state boundaries from the neighbouring Jubbal State. Some of the other tourist places Sirmaur District are Shivalik Fossils Park, Renuka Ji, Rajgarh, Trilokpur, Poanta Sahib, Sarahan etc.
