Governor of Manipur

The Governor of Manipur is the executive head of the state, who is vested with certain powers. The present Governor of Manipur is His Excellency Dr Shivinder Singh Sidhu. Prior to becoming the Governor of the state, His Excellency, The Governor of Manipur held important positions as advisor to the various departments of the Central Government.

Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu joined the Indian Administrative Services in the year 1952 after completing his Masters degree in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics. He had also received the Doctorate degree in Economic Development from the University of Kanpur. Under the state Government of Uttar Pradesh, His Excellency served as the secretary and advisor to three Chief Ministers of the state and also as the District Magistrate posted in Kanpur.

His Excellency Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu held several positions in the Central Government as well. He had served as the advisor to the various ministries like the Ministry of Industrial Development and the Ministry of Tourism & Civil Aviation. Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu had also been the chief advisor to the Governor of Punjab and the Governor of Tamil Nadu. He had attended several meetings and conferences that were internationally convened. He was also assigned the special assignment of evaluating the Commonwealth funds for Technical Development in Islands of South Pacific Ocean. The session convened from June to August in the year 1994.

As Governor of Manipur, His Excellency Dr. Shivinder Singh Sidhu has succeeded Shri Arvind Dave from 6th August, 2004. He still continues to perform his functions as he Governor of Manipur.
