Nearly 14 people have died and about 30 injured as a rural service bus of APSRTC fell into a valley in Anantpur district of Andhra Pradesh. As per media reports, the incident occurred on Penukonda – Madakasira road when the bus was proceeding from Madakasira to Penukonda. According to media reports, there were more than 50 passengers in the bus with majority of the victims being the engineering students. The injured were admitted to hospitals in Bangalore, Anantpur and Hindpur. Reportedly, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced compensation of Rs. 5 lakh each to the kins of the dead and Rs. 2 lakh each to those who are seriously injured.
