Fire destroys expensive gadgets in Mahipalpur, Delhi

There are reports of fire breaking out at an electric appliances godown located at Mahipalpur area in south Delhi around 3.15 p.m. on Friday, a few metres away from a Tata Motors godown.  Though no casualty has been reported, the fire gutted gadgets worth thousands of rupees.

The blaze could be brought under control by 7.30 p.m., after 25 fire tenders were deployed to douse off the flames.

According to fire service officials, though the exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, it seems that the cardboard in the basement caught fire from a short circuit. The fire spread soon since aluminium and copper wires and other inflammable substances were stocked in the godown of the e-appliance store.

Four loaders working on the second floor of the building were trapped in the blaze, but were eventually rescued.
