Gas Leakage in Bhilai Steel Plant

Gas Leak at Bhilai Steel Plant; 6 Dead, Over 30 Injured

In a gas leak accident in Chhattisgarh at the Bhilai Steel Plant, six people have been killed, while more than 30 have suffered injuries. It is being reported that the gas leakage took place on Thursday around 06:30 in the evening because of a break down in a water pump at the plant. However, probe has been ordered to identify the root cause of the leakage.


Those dead include two deputy general managers and four workers of the plant. The wounded includes officials of the plant as well as personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force, and have been sent to the Jawaharlal Nehru Hospital in Bhilai.

Following the accident, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh tweeted, ‘My heart goes down for families of deceased @ BSP Bhilai. In touch with Union Ministers & local administration for relief & rescue operations (sic)’.
