Stampede in Bihar during Dussehra
A stampede at Gandhi Maidan, Patna during Dussehra celebrations killed at
least 32 people and left many injured, mostly women and children. The
incident took place when people were coming back to their homes after
watching ‘Ravan Dehn’. As per media report rumours regarding a live electric
wire fallen on the ground created a panic. People tried to get out of the
place. It created rush towards exit. Injured have been immediately taken to
Patna Medical College Hospital. It is the second misfortune in a year’s span
in the state. The first one happened during Chhathpuja in which 21 persons
were killed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced Rs 2 lakh to the kin of
those who killed in the tragedy and Rs 50,000 for the seriously injured.
Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manji was also present at Gandhi Maidan.
