The industries that provide occupation to the people are Kesoram Cements at Basantnagar, Ramagundam Fertilizers, Ramagundam Thermal Power Station. Social forestry has been promoted by the Government to use the various commodities from forests. The district is also involved in coal mining as it is one of the main minerals of the region. Most of the 228 small scale industries are rice mills, saw, oil, dhall and other grain mills, seed and other processing mills, employing more than 3000 people. Other industries in the district are manufacturing urea liquid, nitrogen, argon gas, liquid argon and liquid oxygen. The chief handicrafts of the region are Nakashi Paintings and Silver filigree, Sirsilla cottons, and Ramadugu Stone Craft.
The power requirements of the district are met by Ramagundam Thermal Power Station. The region receives water from Boggulavagu project on Boggulavagu, Echampalli Project on river Godavari. Under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) scheme, the state Government has decided to improve toilets, sanitation and drinking water facilities.
