- Goa Carnival: It is celebrated during the Holidays of Easter. This is the festival of fun and frolic. Though it was originally Christian festival, it is now a celebrated by one and all in Goa irrespective of religion. It is now associated with music, dancing, parades, eating and colors. In the earlier days, it used be a rather wild festival, when all sorts of rubbish, eggs, dirty water and such other things were thrown at passersby. - St Francis Day: This is indeed a very special occasion, held on December 3rd every year. The date marks the death anniversary of St. Francis Xavier, the preacher of Christianity in India certain other part of Asia. The dead body of the holy man had not decomposed for centuries and this was the reason for the Church of Rome declaring him a saint. Until 1994, the dead body would be brought out for public viewing on the St. Francis Day. Of late, the body has shrunk and deteriorated significantly.
