Goa provides investor friendly and environment friendly conditions for enhancing industrial growth. Besides, Goa has harmonious industrial relations and one of the highest per capita income ratios in the country. A number of government agencies are working to aid industrial growth in Goa. Principal among them is the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC). Its main purpose is to secure land and assist in the rapid and orderly establishment of industries in industrial areas and estates. It gives preference to non-polluting industries like agro based, tourism, biotechnology, woodcarving, garments etc. GIDC has till now established 22 industrial estates in various parts of the state. Some of the industrial estates are located in Tuem, Thivim, Colvale, Corlim, and Sanguem. Besides, some more are located in Mapusa, Bethora, Sancoale, Honda and Kakoda. There are some industrial parks and zones in Goa like the Pharma Park, Biotechnology Park, Apparel Park and Gems and Jewellery Park in Goa.
