Situated on the western coastal region of India, Goa is regarded as a "Tourist's Paradise". The prime location of Goa has helped the state emerge as one of the prime tourist destinations in India. The palm fringed and sun kissed sea beaches with golden and silvery sand, age old Portuguese churches, majestic temples and ancient forts have got a huge contribution to the Goa tourism. Apart from that, the delicious and succulent sea food and various adventure sports like paragliding, wind surfing, scuba diving, jet skiing, banana ride etc. along with beach carnivals and nightlong beach parties attract tourist from national as well as international destinations. The natural beauty of this smallest state of India lies in its panoramic sea beaches.

Tourist Places in Goa



Following are some of the major places of visit in the magnificent Goan kingdom:

Anjuna Beach: This being one of the happening Goa beaches is famous for its nightlife and sumptuous food. The specialty of this beach is that it has got many semi open air thatched restaurants and several shops selling fresh local coconuts, watermelons and pineapples.

Baga Beach: This sea beach in Goa is famous for offering varied options of water sports like banana ride, jet skiing, paragliding etc.

Basilica of Bom Jesus: Constructed in 1605, Bom Jesus Basilica is one of the world heritage monuments. The popularity of the church has been increased by the fact that the sacred relics of St. Francis Xavier are kept there.

Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary: This is among the biggest wildlife sanctuaries in Goa and is the habitat of a number of species like tigers, elephants, deer, giant squirrels, Indian bison, monkeys, black panthers, pythons and cobras. A wildlife tour inside the preserve ensures a lifetime experience to any person.

Cabo De Rama Fort: Located in Canacona in South Goa, this fort is said to have association with the Ramayana, one of the great Epics of India as Lord Rama is believed to have taken shelter here with his wife Sita during their exile of 14 years.

Candolim Beach: Located far away from the city life, this serene and peaceful beach is among the best place for those, who love to spend quality time with nature and in isolation. One can just hire a beach umbrella and relax under it. However, for adventure lovers, this beach has provisions for water skiing and parasailing.

Chorao Island: Blessed with natural beauty, this island can be best explored by a rented canoe. This is even the location of one of the famous bird sanctuaries, Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary that is home to numerous bird species.

Dudhsagar Waterfalls: The major attraction of this waterfall is the natural phenomena created by the cascading water, which falls from a height of 100 ft. Apart from nature lovers, the place is quite popular among trekkers and hikers since it is a good trekking route.

Grande Island: This famous site of scuba diving is positioned near Vasco Da Gama, the largest city in Goa. Profuse marine life and abundant corals and reef fish are found there.

Shanta Durga Temple: This is one of the ancient and popular temples in this state of India. This temple reflects the then Portuguese architectural style.
