Budgam, the smallest district in Jammu & Kashmir, occupies an area of 1,371 sq. km.and accounts for nearly 1% of the total area of the state. The districts of Baramulla and Srinagar in the north, Pulwama in the south and the Poonch border in the southwest encircle the district, which spans between 34°1'12"N 74°43'11"E.
Budgam District, recording a population size of approximately 16,000 occupies 6% of the state’s total populace. The district economy is primarily agrarian.
