Dahanu-Bordi Beach

The 17 km stretch along the sea coast is the Dhanu-Bordi beach of Thane. 145km drive from Mumbai, the Dhanu-Bordi beach is famous for its chikoo orchards. Bordi is half an hour drive from Dhanu. One can experience the cool breeze, endless seashore, and a fantastic sea.

Quite near to Dhanu-Bordi beach is Udwada, a sacred town of the Parsis. There is a large temple housing a sacred fire and is known as the Mecca of the Zoroastrians. The most amazing fact about this temple is that, this holy fire has been kept alive for almost a thousand year.

Although it’s quite hot during summer, the cool sea breeze makes the climate pleasant for the visitors. There are exotic remnants of Iranian and Persian culture.

Getting there:
The nearest airport is at Mumbai, which is about 145km from Dhanu-Bordi. Nearest rail station is Gholwad, 2km from Dhanu-Bordi. State transport buses are available regularly. Private and government hotels are available at all rates. Rooms can also be hired from the local people for accommodation.
