Marine Drive

The Marine Drive is a 3 km long road that links Nirman Point to Babulnath and Malabar Hill in Mumbai. The road looks like an inverted ‘C’ along the coast. The Marine Drive is built in 1920’s and 1930’s and is located at the heart of Mumbai. A walk along the Marine Drive would give you some fresh air to breathe and bestow you with the fantastic views of setting sun.

The official name of Marine Drive is Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Road which is rarely used. The boulevard is lined with palm trees and street lights. Seen from an elevation at night, when all the street lights are on, the Marine Drive looks like a gold necklace studded with gems and pearls. This is why Marine Drive is also known as Queen’s Necklace.

Towards the Northern end of Marine Drive is Chowpatty Beach famous for Bhel Puri, Pani Puri, Pav Bhaji, Batata Puri and many such local snacks. Marine Drive has innumerous houses lining along the beach. Several festivals take place in Marine Drive making it a very congested beach.

Getting There:
Marine Drive is 3km from Mumbai. Auto rickshaw, local bus, taxis, cars, almost anything will take you to Marine Drive.
