Navegaon National Park

The Navegaon National Park with an area of 135 sq km is located in Navegaon, Maharashtra. Built in the 18th century it has a watch tower from where one gets the bird eye view of the entire forest which consists of a deer park, Dr. Salem bird sanctuary, and three exotic gardens. The weather remains pleasant around the year. But the best time to visit the park is either in the months of April and May or during winter.

Dr. Salem bird sanctuary nests almost 60% birds of entire Maharashtra. The best time to visit this sanctuary is during winter when one gets to see hundreds of rare species migratory birds.

The forest is dwelling of a large species of animals. Leopard, tiger panther, sloth bear, fishing cat, four horned antelope, sambar, nilgai, python, and peafowl could be seen while on a jungle safari.

The most unique experiences of the Navegaon National Park that you will have are going on a jungle safari, staying in a tree top house, and ofcourse riding a sail boat in the lake.

There are a few places of interest inside the national park. They include Nagzira Wildlife Sanctuary (60 km), Itiadoh Dam (20 km), Tibetan Camp at Gothangaon (15 km) and Pratapgad (15 km).

Getting There:
Nearest railway station is at Deulgaon which is 2km away from Navegaon National Park. Navegaon bus stop is 10 km from the park and Nagpur airport is 142 km from here.
