Trimbak is famous for two things - The famous temple of Trimbakeshwar and the place from where the Godavari river origins. Located at a distance of 28 km from Nashik, the most unique feature of the Trimbakeshwar temple is that the Shiva Linga here bears three faces of the three almighty Gods of Hindu mythology – Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara. In Hindu mythology the Trimbakeshwar Temple is believed to the holiest place to offer worship. River Godavari originating from Trimbakeshwar makes it the most sacred place not only in Maharashtra but in whole India. People from all over the country come here to pay a pilgrimage and thus attend salvation.
This ancient temple is dedicated to lord Shiva and is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of India. The entire temple is made of black stone with exotic architecture and is located at the foothills of Brahmagiri Mountain.
Trimbakeshwar is famous for the religious rituals like Narayan-Nagbali, Kalsarpa Shanti and Tripindi. Several religious festivals take place in Trimbakeshwar like Sinhastha Kumbha Mela, Godavari Day, Nivrutti Natha Festival, Rathyatra of Trimbakeshwar, and Maha Shivratri.
