Mud volcano erupts in Andaman at Narcondam Islands
June 10, 2005 (Andaman and Nicobar Islands):
Port Blair: A mud volcano, lying dormant for nearly a century now erupted on Wednesday at Narcondam island in the Andaman and Nicobar islands, about 200 km north east of here.
Smoke and mud were seen coming out of the volcano on the island, which is an uninhabited one, Superintendent of Police South Andaman district, A K Singh told PTI.
Earlier, a volcano on Barren island had erupted on May 28, 140 km from here after lying dormant for a decade.
The SP said watch was being kept on the mud volcano at the Narcondam island.
