The deep depression close to Vedaranyam moved in a westerly direction and is crossing Tamilnadu coast near Vedaranyam at 0830 hrs IST of 10th December 2005. The system will continue to move further in a westerly direction and weaken gradually.
Under its influence fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely over Tamilnadu during next 24 hours.
Squally winds with speed reaching 50-60 kmph likely along and off Tamilnadu coast between Tondi and Pondicherry during next 12 hours.
State of sea will be rough to very rough along and off Tamilnadu coast during the same period. Fishermen along the above coast are advised not to venture into the sea for another 12 hours.
