Terrorists attack Tourist Centre in Srinagar
Two terrorists on Wednesday (6th April ) afternoon entered and attacked the Tourist Reception Center (TRC) in Srinagar.
The centre is inside a compound, where passengers scheduled to travel by the inaugural Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service tomorrow have been put up and houses several government offices.
PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has clarified that the passengers were not housed at the TRC and were instead kept at another location inside the compound.
The militants fired gunshots and threw grenades while launching the attack. The security forces retaliated and one militant has reportedly been killed in the crossfire.
However,
all passengers scheduled to travel on the bus are safe.
As per the reports the terrorists first fired upon the two buses to be flagged off by the Prime Minister for Muzaffarabad and then entered the Tourist Centre.
The inaugural bus is scheduled to be flagged off by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from the S.K.Cricket Stadium, Srinagar.
A senior Military Intelligence officer based in Kashmir said one terrorist was killed soon after and all bus passengers were taken out of the building safe. The buses suffered no damage in the firing and they have been brought back to Traffic Lines.
