Two high intensity bomb blasts ripped through the city of Hyderabad on Thursday evening at 7pm and have killed 15 people and over a 100 have been injured.
The attacks were timed in a way to cause maximum damage and were carried out during the rush hour when most people were trying to get back home. Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has reached the blast site in Hyderaband and the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Kiran Kumar Reddy has urged citizens to remain calm. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has condemned the blasts and has offered a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh each to the families of those killed in the incident and Rs.50, 000 to those seriously injured.
The injured are being treated at the Osmania, Yashoda, Omni, and Kamineni hospitals and the death toll is set to rise given that some of the injured are in a critical condition.
Following these attacks, the state of Andhra Pradesh is on high alert and so are other cities including Delhi and Mumbai.
