Jaintia Hills stretch from 25º3 to 25º45 North latitudes and 91º59 to 92º45 East longitudes. Occupying a geographical area of 3819 Sq. Km., it is home to 295,692 people as of 2001 Census.

Jaintia's has large deposits of coal and rich deposits of other mineral resources. Cement factory, coffee plantations, handloom, fisheries and by-products of fruit are other means of income for the people of Jaintia.
