Mumbai, which was previously known as Bombay, is not only a major metropolitan city of India, but also the business capital of India. It is a city of many faces. With its beaches, food and monuments it has always attracted many tourists. The city's long association with the British is reflected in the old world appeal of its buildings made in the Indo-Saracen style.

There are many forts, caves and palaces in Mumbai, which are a must see for any tourist with a taste in history. Gateway of India is the most famous historic landmark in Mumbai. The Flora Fountain, Marble Palace, The Elephanta Caves St. George's Fort , Vasai Fort and Rajabhai Clock Tower are some other places of historic interest. Mumbai houses many museums, art galleries and libraries. Mumbai has people of various religions; hence there are numerous religious places in Mumbai. The world famous Haji Ali Mosque is located here. The Mahalaxmi Temple, Banganga, Mumbadevi Temple , Jain Temple and St. Thomas Cathedral are also among the other famous religious destinations in Mumbai.

Situated on the coast of Arabian Sea, it also offers many beautiful beaches for its tourists to enjoy sun, sand and sea. Two of its very famous beaches are Chowpatty and Juhu Beach. Chowpatty Beach is situated on the Marine Drive and it is famous for its ‘Bhelpuri' and ‘Panipuri'. At night at it is lined with vendors, entertainers and children's rides. On the other hand, Juhu Beach is a long stretch of sandy beach from Santacruz to Vile-Parle and is a very famous picnic spot. Other beaches in Mumbai are Madh Island and Gorai Beach.

Picture of Mumbai cannot be completed without mentioning Bollywood , the biggest Indian film industry that churns out hundreds of Hindi blockbusters every year. This has also made Mumbai's fashion a trendsetter for the entire country.
