Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum Bikaner


The Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum or the Ganga Government Museum is situated in Bikaner in Rajasthan. In fact the Ganga Mahal of Bikaner Fort or the Junagarh Fort houses this museum. A visit to this museum will enable you to comprehend the glorious past of Rajasthan.

Location- Ganga Mahal in Junagarh Fort, Rajasthan

History-Previously this museum was founded by Maharaja Ganga Singh in a red sandstone edifice near the Lalgarh Palace to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of his reign in Bikaner, hence the name Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum.

Later the museum was repositioned in1954 by Maharaja Karni Singhji. The museum was inaugurated by the then Governor General of India, Lord Linlithgow and the inaugural ceremony was attended by notable personalities from England.

  • Hunting trophies of the royal personalities
  • Full-sized portraits of the Maharajas of Bikaner and various other eminent English Personalities
  • Personal Items used by Maharaja Ganga Singh
  • Artifacts made of wood, glass and metal.
  • Stunning gilded golf leaf paintings on camel hides that are crafted by the artisans of Usta.
  • Rajput weaponry consisting of jade handle daggers, shields (dhals) made of camel hides and camel guns and inlaid handguns.
  • Antique gold and silver howdahs
  • Swings and palanquins (palkis)
  • First World War biplane
  • Miniature Paintings
  • A pair of drums belonging to jambhoji, a famous saint
