The Taragarh Fort is situated at a distance of 39 km from Kota in Rajasthan. The fort had a glorious past when Rajput reign was at its highest glory.
Description- The enormous fort has six gates. It has massive reservoirs that were carved out of solid rocks and was used for watering the nearby towns in the past. The fort also encloses the biggest battlement or the stone tower known as the Bhim Burj that housed the famous cannon called Garbha Gunjan, the second largest cannon in India.
The fort also houses Miran Saheb ki Dargah, a former governor of the fort who dedicated his life in an encounter.
Within the fort a palace named Rani Mahal also exists that was built for the wives and paramours of the rulers. The faded murals and the broken stained glass windows alone testify the glorious status enjoyed by this fort in the past.
