West Bengal, also called "The City of Joy", is a state in east India and has Kolkata as its capital. It stretches from Himalayas in the north to Bay of Bengal in the south. West Bengal is one of the most culturally and ethnically divers states of India. Different ethnicity, religion, languages and culture adds to this rich landscape

It houses the world famous Sunderbans. Located in the Ganga delta in West Bengal, this park covers a vast stretch of mangrove swamp, lush forested islands and small rivers near the Bay of Bengal and is home to the magnificent Royal Bengal tiger . Other wildlife parks in the state are Jaldapara and Doars.

The coastal strip of West Bengal, extending from the Ganges delta land to the border of Orissa, presents some beautiful options in sea resorts. Digha, Shankarpur, Junput, Bakkhali, Sagardwip and Frazergunj are just some of them.

The famous cities in West Bengal include Kolkata, Siliguri, Bakkhali, Sagardwip, Plassey, Burdwan, Durgapur, Kharagpur, Kalimpong, Darjeeling and Malda.
